Railway Caravan – In The Guise Of A Rustic CabinBrooksby, England
About this listing
The Railway Caravan is actually a rather old static caravan which I have insulated on the outside making it look more like a rustic cabin.
It is located right next to a busy railway line (Birmingham-Stansted) so you will hear the trains. However we are surrounded by open countryside and are just as likely to be woken by our cockrel.
There are 3 bedrooms, and we advertise this as suiting a family of 5 +.
I run canoe building holidays, while Carole teaches English. Canoes available on the river.
About The Railway Caravan
We are situated in the heart of the countryside, with no neighbours, and our place is rather unique in lots of ways. We have a tree house, several home made cabins and a yurt, and a river runs by the side of the garden. Our canoes are generally on the river all year round and you will be welcome to use these during your stay.
We keep chickens and a goat (she will welcome bread crusts and veg peelings).
There are lovely walks in the area which pass close to us, and we are on a national cycle network route.
Canoe building. Ask me about canoe building holidays,
English tuition. Carole teaches English as an Additional Language. If you are looking for English tuition, do ask
There is an acre of grass which you are welcome to use. There are two camp fire places, and wood is available to purchase.
We are 3 miles from Syston railway station, 6 miles from Melton Mowbray station and 9 miles from Leicester station. The 5a bus ( between Melton and Leicester) passes about half a mile from here. I can sometimes offer lifts from the station.
There are lots of lovely walks in the area.
- You can park close to the Railway Caravan Cabin.
- You are welcome to visit the Tree House (please supervise children).
- You are welcome to use our canoes (buoyancy aids are available and must be worn by children on the landing stage or on the canoes).
- You can use the garden for games or relaxation.
- There are two camp fire spots, and firewood is available to purchase.
- There are also a couple of BBQs which guests can use in the garden.
We have several other cabins on site but these are some distance from the Railway Caravan Cabin. We keep chickens and you may hear the cockrels (roosters) in the morning (probably earlier than you plan to wake up!!)
The railway runs behind the cabin, and you will certainly hear the trains.
You might well see us building canoes or making paddles.
In The Area
There are several nice places to eat locally including the Deli Cafe in Thrussington, the Blue Bell gastropub in Hoby, and the Cafe in Rearsby. However supermarkets are 3 miles away (Aldi, Co-op and Tesco, in Syston, or 6 miles away (Sainsburys, Morrisons, Lidl and Aldi, in Melton Mowbray).
